Trump (Public Domain) |
The paper recently published an Op Ed by U.S. Senator Tom Cotton arguing for Trump's use of troops to quell mass rioting across the country. This is a response supported by the majority of registered voters and something previous presidents have done under the Insurrection Act.
But instead of responding to this Op Ed with argument and
debate, the NYT employees responded like tantrum-throwing children in what has been described as an "open revolt." The staff flew into a moral outrage, as they are
highly offended by any ideas that deviate even slightly from their leftist
thinking. Such ideas make them feel "unsafe." The end result was that the NYT Opinion Editor promptly resigned under intense pressure from the mob.
Any fair-minded reader who skims even the titles of the articles
in the NYT or the Washington Post will
immediately realize that something is afoot: the headlines are incredibly
inflammatory, sometimes childish, and blatantly anti-Trump.
Any fair-minded reader who ventures further by actually reading the
articles and doing some research about the subject matter will have
their initial suspicions confirmed. (See,
e.g., here.)
But now, if there was any doubt about any this, such doubt
has been eliminated. The NYT
employees—or at least a large group of them who appear to have a great deal of
power—have made it clear what their goals are and where they stand. This is true not only with regard to their
far left stance on political issues, which has been obvious for a long time, but
also their disdain for opposing views, argument, and
debate.
Trump was correct when he said: “The radical left tolerates
no dissent, it permits no opposition, it accepts no compromise. These people are crazy.” And as a liberal professor on a hyper-liberal
campus recently explained, the state of affairs is unsurprisingly the same (or
worse) on college campuses, which are the training grounds for these
intolerant, divisive children running most media outlets.
Why does the Left keep proving Trump right?
The article that you hyper link to "On College Campuses" Is one of the most well written, and brave, pieces of work I've ever read. Did you notice the edit that was added yesterday, mentioning UCB's response to the article? The ignorance is shocking, and it really supports the author's position.
ReplyDeleteI saw the headline changed, and looked for the response, but didn't see it. I'll check again. I suspect the university simply repeated the usual tropes complete with "virtue signaling." (I generally hate these academic-generated phrases, but for some reason I like that one.)
